ACCIONA Energía to build its first 227MWp solar plant in Mexico following auction

Good news for ACCIONA Energía which has managed to enter the photovoltaic industry in Mexico. ACCIONA has been awarded with the supply of 478.3GWh of renewable energy and the corresponding amount in clean energy certificates (CELs) in the second long-term energy auction for the wholesale electric power market in joint venture with Mexico’s Tuto Energy.

The project named Puerto Libertad located in Sonora, will be the place selected by ACCIONA to build the turnkey installation for the joint venture AT Solar, set up by ACCIONA Energía (50%) and Tuto Energy (50%). Completion of the construction work is planned for late 2017, with the plant entering commercial service in early 2019.

A total of 8,909GWh were awarded in the auction, of which 54% corresponds to photovoltaic plants and 43% to wind farms
